The history of the SeaGull ST19 movement dates back to the 1960s, when it was initially developed to meet the needs of the Chinese Air Force by emulating the Swiss Venus 175 movement (which led to the creation of the T3 movement and the Type 304 aviation watch). The core rationale behind its design was to produce a reliable, precise, easy-to-operate, and robust manual-wind military chronograph movement. The Venus 175 was chosen as the blueprint because its classic column wheel and horizontal clutch structure represented the advanced technical standard of high-end chronograph movements at that time, and it was proven to be mature and dependable.
